This picture is called Vincent’s Chair with Pipe. It is a picture of a pipe and tobacco on a chair. It was painted with oil paints.  It was painted in Arles in December of 1888. Van Gogh painted Paul Gauguin’s chair too. They both can be found in London in The National Gallery of Art. We chose this picture because to Van Gogh an empty chair meant death and absence.
