Radiant Energy

Radiant Energy is two forms of energy made from heat and light.  Radiant energy is also solar energy.  Many inventions are powered by solar energy such as bathrooms, houses, mills and even electricity is made from solar energy by giving off heat, then the heat is transformed into current electricity.

Experiment: Solar Cooker
Cook a hot dog without an oven or a fire!

Materials:

shoe box
tin foil
thin sturdy stick or dowel
hot dog

Procedure:

• First wrap the tin foil around the box and cover making them two separate pieces.
• Then wrap the tin foil around the inside of both the cover and the box.
• Cut a small hole in each of the longest sides of the box directly across from each other.
• Put the hot dog on the stick and insert the stick through the holes.
• Place the box in the sun and wait for the hot dog to cook!
