The state tree is called the Sitka Spruce. The largest and one of the
most valuable trees in Alaska. The Sitka Spruce grows 160 feet in
height and 3 to 5 feet in diameter. Its long and dark green needles
surround twigs that bear cones. Its found throughout the southeast
and the Kenai Peninsula and along the Gulf Coast and along the west
coast of Cook inlet. The Sitka Spruce was adopt in 1962.
