Major Geographic Features

Prince Edward Island, along with parts of New Brunswick and Nova Scotia, is a part of the Maritime Plain. The provinces landscape is level with few steep hills. Most of the fertile surface soil is a reddish color due to iron in the underlying rock. The Hillsborough River almost divides the province into two equal parts.
