POPULATION

A 1996 census showed 10,753,573 inhabitants in Ontario. English is the sole first language of 75% of the people. French is the sole language of 5% of the people. One fourth of the residents were foreign immigrants from Great Britain, Italy, Poland, Portugal, United States, Germany, India, Jamaica, and Hong Kong. Of the 10, 084,855 inhabitants, 113,000 are Native Americans. The largest religious group is Roman Catholic. Other groups are the United Church of Canada, Anglican Church of Canada, and the Baptist Church.
