Prince Edward Island is one of three Maritime and one of the four Atlantic provinces of Canada. It became part of the Canadian Confederation on July 1, 8173. The major econimic activity of Prince Edward Island is farming. Prince Edward Island is named after Edward Augustus, Duke of Kent and Strathem. The province is also known as P.E.I or The Island.
