Forests cover the northern half of Saskatchewan and are dominated by spruce and pine. The central region has conifers, aspen, and poplar trees. About 2/5ths of the province's land is covered with forests.
Many large animals can be found. These include moose, caribou, black bear, and gray wolf. White-tailed deer stay in the forests.
Small animals include squirrel, gopher and rabbit.
Waterfowl include ducks, geese, and loons. Fish are plentiful. Some kinds are the whitefish, lake trout, walleye, pike, and grayling.
