The Northwest Territories are the administrative region of Canada. It is the largest political subdivision within Canada. It is surrounded by many bodies of water. On the north is the Atlantic Ocean. In the northeast, is Baffin Bay. Directly in the east is Davis Strait and Hudson Bay. The capital of the Northwest Territories is Yellowknife. It entered the confederation on July 15, 1870. It is sparcely settled. It is known for its mineral production.
