The Yukon Territory has high plateaus in the south and central regions. It also has small mountain ranges between the plateaus. One mountain range is the ice-capped St. Elias Mountains. In the east and north, is the Northeastern Mountains and the Basin System. In the northeast are the Mackenzie, Selwyn, and Richardson mountain ranges. The Ogilvie Mountains separate the plateau region on the side from the Porcupine River basin on the north.
The Yukon River is a major river of the Yukon Territory. Some tributaries of the Yukon are tHE Pelly, Macmillan, Stewart, White, and Klondike rivers. Other major rivers are the Laird, the Peel, and the Mackenzie Rivers.
Kluane and Aishihik are two scenic alpine lakes located on the east side of the St. Elias mountains.
