THIS IS A PICTURE AFTER THE 1889 FLOOD RIGHT AFTER THE FLOOD HAD PAST.

The steel industry was a major part

for Johnstown to make their economy.

The steel mill started producing their

products around the 1850's.

People came from all around the

world in order to make money. Since

there were so many people from all

different places, they had to make

different kinds of churches. The only

reason they did this is because there

were so many cultures.

In 1889 the biggest flood came to

Johnstown crushing everything in its

path. But the steel mill didn't get hit

hard and it stood.

Then for the second time it got hit

by the 1936 flood. It was not as strong as

the first, but it still did a lot of

destruction.

Then for the last time the 1977

flood crashed through Johnstown crushing

things everywhere, but this flood was not

as strong as the other two floods, so there

were not that many casualties to

Johnstown.

After the floods the steel industry

didn't slow down from the disasters. It

kept on running for years to come. The

steel mill stopped working around the

early 1980's
