Looks

These animals are huge, gray, and lovable.  They have amazing senses of smell, touch, and eyesight.  They have two (2) short flippers and one (1) large back flipper that propels them trough the water.  Many times, if you find a Manatee, you will find a scar or two on the flippers or back.
This is the effect of  motor boat accidents.  Every year, many
Manatees are either killed, or hurt very bad, giving them  scars for life.  They also have algae growing on their backs which fish like to eat.  They have hand-like lips that grab plants right off the river bottom.  Male Manatees can weigh up to 3,500 lbs. And can grow to be 13 ft. long.  They have
Bristly hairs all over their body.  This helps feel for food or at night to make sure they don't bump into anything.
