Hillary Rodham Clinton

Hillary Rodham Clinton was born in 1947, and is still alive today. She was born in Chicago, Illinois on October 26. The daughter of Dorothy Rodham and the late Hugh Rodham, she and her two brothers, Hugh and Tony, grew up in Park Ridge, Illinois. Her dad owned a fabric store. As a young student Hillary organized food drives. She was a member of the Girl Scouts.

 

Getting Married and White House Experience

In her later life she married William (Bill) Clinton in the year of 1975. She had a daughter named Chelsea, who is now 19 and is a sophomore at Stanford University. Bill became the President of the United States, so Hillary went into the White house with Bill. Hillary likes to use the White House as a showcase for performing arts, American cuisine, and crafts.

Shortly after they moved into the White House, Bill named Hillary to the monumental job of heading up a National Health Care Task Force. Hillary felt that she had responsibilities, like taking care of her family and making it seem like they are at home in the White House. For example, she changed the serving kitchen on the second floor into a family kitchen so the three of them could gather around at meals just like at their real home in Arkansas.

 

What she Enjoys

Hillary enjoys tennis, swimming, ballet, softball, football, volleyball, and skating. She likes spending free time with her family and her friends when she has extra time.

 

Dedication to Children

Hillary is known as a woman that likes to help children. In 1973, Hillary became a staff attorney for the Children's Defense Fund. She believes that the future depends on the willingness of every nation to invest in its people, especially women and children. Hillary served on the board of Arkansas Children's Hospital. In 1983, Hillary was named Woman of the Year in Arkansas. She was named Mother of the Year in 1984.
