                            BY Ashley and Michael

Hello!  Welcome to the tiger page made by Ashley and Michael.  On this part of the sight, we'll give you some basic tiger information.

SPECIES: Tigers are the biggest cats in the world.  Their scientific name is panthera tigris.  There are five different kinds or subspecies in different places in the world.  In our website,  the tigers will appear such as Siberian, South China, Indochinese, Bengal, and Sumatran. There are three tiger subspecies that have been extinct in the past 70 years:  the Bali, Javan, Caspian.  Sumatrans are the smallest species and the smallest kind of tigers.  The population is down to 30 left.

A TIGERS DIET: Silently walking in the green  jungle as the biggest cat in the world trying to hunt for prey.  Blending with the long grass and shades with his orange coat with black stripes, finding his favorite prey, a small monkey. This large carnivore usually hunt at night, spending the greater part of the daylight hours resting in shaded areas to escape the heat.   It eats a variety of creatures, from frogs to turtle, to cattle , monkeys, deer, buffalo, and sometimes occasionally the young elephant.  The tiger also eats insects, fish,  and wild pig.  It is a myth, though, that tigers eats human beings. Tigers have longer canine teeth than any predator so they can catch large prey.
