Ra was getting weaker. Some of the people murmured against him thinking he might be too weak to rule the kingdom. They plotted to take his throne. Ra heard this and he was angry. He sent his daughter Hathor to destroy all the people on the Earth. She came down as a raging lioness and slaughtered every human she could find. Ra felt sorry for these people and made a pool of beer. Hathor saw this and drank it all up. Pretty soon she was so drunk she could not remember why she came down to Earth. She went up to the heavens and fell asleep at her father's feet. The rest of the people on the Earth were safe. They had escaped the anger of Ra.
