Margaret Kangley

Margaret Kangley is an artist who specializes in painting on canvas. Although she loves to paint she finds she spends most of her time as an art teacher at Valley Regional High School in Deep River, Connecticut. Kangley recently had a show at Steve's Centerbrook Cafe in Centerbrook, Connecticut.

She likes objects that are simple in the color and arranges her subject matter to focus on the light of the object itself. Her painting style is active and she likes to use long strokes. One of her favorite paint mediums is gouche.

Ms. Kangley says if you want to take a painting class you should take a class that allows you to ask questions and forces you to think, since painting is a visual language. "Stay away from the 'How to' kind of classes!" She says to seek out classes that are TOUGH!!!!

"I like to encourage my students to develop their own style," she adds. "One doesn't need to know how to draw to paint."
