      Triangular Leafed Fleabane

                                         (Senecio triangularis)

The scientific name Senecio Triangularis refers to it's triangular shaped leaves. These leaves, which extend 2 to 8 inches, are coarsely toothed and smaller as they go up the stem.  They are very similar to dandelion leaves except they are not basal.  It blooms in July and August and can grow to be 3 feet or taller. The beautiful flat topped blossoms look like shaggy, yellow daisies.

This leafy plant grows in alpine and sub-alpine meadows, streams, and ditches along the highways.
