4. Grave of Meriwether Lewis, who was President Thomas Jefferson's personal secretary and the leader of the legendary Lewis and Clark expedition which explored the American Northwest on a two year exploration of discovery. Lewis met his untimely death in 1809, at age thirty-five while traveling the Natchez Trace to Washington, D.C. Many believed that his death was a suicide, but that is disputed to this day, since he was shot in the back of the head. Lewis was carrying information for the president that he felt too sensitive to trust to another messenger, a message, which some say, someone didn't want Jefferson to receive.
