Our ThinkQuest Experience
We are 6 kids (5 girls and 1 boy), in 4th, 5th and 6th grades, who live
in the Jackson Mississippi area. All of the girls are in gifted classes
at their schools. We got into ThinkQuest through Mrs. Lynn Roth, our
teacher, mother and friend's mother, who found the contest while surfing
on the internet, and she asked us if we would be interested in doing it.
Five of us had some computer experience, or computers at our home. But
neither of the two schools we go to have internet hook-up at school.
Rachel and Tyler decided on our topic ~ The Natchez Trace ~ since we
all live within 10 miles of the Trace, and we have all been on plenty of
trips (both school field trips and personal trips ~ see photos at the
bottom of this page) along the Trace. We
brainstormed to decide what students our age (10 to 12) would be
interested in knowing about the Trace, then we divided up the work, and
started researching it.
We had to do all our computer work at home or at the library. The
hardest part was getting the tools like Search Engine, Message Board, and
Mailto to work. We kept reading how to do it, but it was
hard! (We hope they are still working when you read this!) We produced
our document with Dana Shareware, Microsoft FrontPage, and Paint Shop
Pro 5.

Crizelle
I am a 11 year old 5th
grader at Boyd Elementary School. I am in Mrs. L. Roth's gifted
class. I like to play basketball and play video games.

I am 11 years old and in 5th
grade at Boyd Elementary School. I am in Mrs. Roth's gifted class. I play
kickball, and basketball for fun. I have taken gymnastics for three
years, and enter a lot of competitions. I won 1 gold medal for floor
exercise in our recent State competition, and in the Sweetheart
Tournament, I won 3 gold medals in my age group. Last summer I trained
with
Bela Karolyi (Mary Lou Retton's and Dominique Moceanu's old coach) at
his gym in Houston, Texas.

I am in 6th grade at St.
Richard's Elementary School. I am 12 years old. I have an older sister
who is 14. I play on a school basketball team, and like to shop, and talk
on the phone. I have 2 cats and a dog. My grandmother is French. My

Hi, I am 12 years old and in
6th grade at St. Richard's School. I play on soccer and basketball
teams, and I am on our school cheerleading team. I like to shop, talk

I am 10 years old and in 4th
grade at St. Richard's School. I play on soccer and basketball teams.
I love to play Nintendo 64 and build legos. My job on the team was to
take the pictures on the Trace and decide which pictures to use.
