1926-1950

1932- Amelia Earhart
        Amelia Earhart completed the first transatlantic solo flight and disappeared    mysteriously.
 
 

1933- Nazis
   Adolph Hitler and the Nazi regime come to power in Germany, and Concentration Camps were established.
 

1939- World War II
        On September first, German troops invaded Poland. Soon, German forces crushed the countries of Denmark, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Belgium, Norway, and France. From 1939 to 1940, Great Britain was the only country standing against the Germans. By June of that year, Italy had joined the war as allies to the German soldiers. Soon, the fighting spread to Greece and northern Africa. In 1941, Nazis invaded the Soviet Union. That same year, the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. The Axis Powers were made up of Germany, Italy, Japan, and six other nations. The United States, Great Britain, China, and The Soviet Union were the major countries fighting the Nazis, or the Allies. The Allies halted The Axis Powers advance into north Africa, The Soviet Union, and the Pacific in 1942. In 1945 The Allies closed in on Germany from the east and west. That summer a series of bloody battles left The Allies knocking on Japan's door (" Japan, are you home? "). Finally, on May 7, Germany surrendered and on September 2 Japan surrendered after two atom bombs were dropped on Nagasaki and Hiroshima, Japan.
 

1940-Television
     The first "tube" was made available to the general public. Now T.V. is an essential part of our lifestyle.

 1946-The Computer
        The first computer invented was the size of a small garage. Now computers are part of everyday life. Some can easily sit on your lap!
