Ocean Math

1. If you are 50 feet underwater and you want to go down 50 feet more, how far down are you?
2. There are 200 Angelfish and they meet up with a school of 1,000 Clown fish, how many fish altogether?
3. If you are off the coast of San Diego, and you sail 110 miles north to San Pedro, and then you continue to sail another 100 miles to Santa Barbara, and then you travel 300 north to Monterey Bay, how many miles have you sailed in all?
4. There are 22,000 gold fish swimming in a school, and they meet a school of 50,500 gold fish, how many gold fish in all?
5. There are 2,000 puffer fish off the coast of the Galapagos, they swim into a pod of 400 dolphins, how many marine animals in all?
6. A viper fish lives 2,500 feet below sea level, she decides to swim another 382 feet to scavenge, how far has she swum down below sea level?
7. If you are a deep sea eel and you live in the Abyssal zone of the ocean at 10,000 feet and you want to visit your neighbor the Gulper eel at 12,000 feet, how many more feet does the Gulper eel live than you, the Deep sea eel?
8. A Tsunami is 1 foot and after it gets closer to the shore it becomes 63 feet. Then it grows another 100 feet. How big was this tsunami when it hit land?
9. If you have an oxygen tank that lasts an hour and ½ of it is used up underwater, and to swim up it will take 15 minutes--another ¼ of the tank is used up—how much oxygen is left?
10. There are 10 to the 100th power grains of sand (and by the way this number is called a Googol) and 10 to the 50th power of grains wash away. How many are left?
11. There are 7 starfish. Each has 5 legs. How many legs in all?
12. There are 15 starfish. 14 have 5 legs and 1 is missing a leg. How many legs in all?
13. A man dives 24.5 feet in a coral reef, and he sees a sea urchin 2.8 feet below him.  How many feet in all did he dive if he catches the sea urchin?
14. If you have 3 x 5 jet skis, and you take away 2 x 6 jet skis, how many jet skis are left?
15. If there were 5 x 9 fish in a school of fish and a shark ate 7 x 5 fish,  how many fish are left?
16. How many arms do 8 octopi have?
17. Now if you see 10 octopi swimming, and they meet up with another 6 octopi, how many arms of octopi in all?
18. If the weather on the coast of Antarctica is -45° F   and then the temperature rises 12° F what is the temperature?
19. If you have the fastest boat on Earth and it can go 1,555 miles per hour but it crashed at 739 miles per hour, how much faster could it have gone to reach its maximum speed before it crashed?
20. If there are 412 dolphins swimming off the coast of California and they break up into 4 pods, how many dolphins in each pod?
