The paratroopers are little dummies that some spies built for D-day.  They were about half the size of a real man.  They put the imitation soldiers in ships and sent them the opposite route of the real people.  They would notice that there were more soldiers, or fake dummies, on one side than the other side.  So they would mostly go on the route and would follow them.
