2. Sit right next
to the reading buddy so they can see the words, understand the story and
get
the word into their brain.
3. Read slowly so the reading buddy can understand you and enjoy the story. Use your voice to make the story fun.
4. Pick an easy book to read that repeat sentences or has a pattern. Pictures help.
5. Ask the reading
buddy some questions so that you know that they understand the book.
You can ask them question in the middle of the story or at the end
of the story.
6. Do an activity that goes with the story and change the activity every couple of weeks.
7. Ask your reading buddy what they want to read and find those types of books.
8. Be kind to your reading buddy. Make them feel they did a super job.
9. Make your reading
buddy believe they are going to get to be a great reader. You want
to let them know that they are smart and they can read
10. Before you decide what
to teach them ask your reading buddy what they want to learn.
