Charles Barkley

Charles Barkley went to the university of Auburn and during his three years there, he averaged 9.6 rebounds. During his years in college, Charles became known as "the Round Mound of Rebound" for his hunger to grab rebounds. Barkley entered the 1984 NBA draft as a junior and was picked 5th in the first round by the Philadelphia 76ers. In the 1986-87

season Charles led the league in rebounding with an average of 14.6 rebounds per game and the following year finished fourth in scoring with an average of 28.3 points per game. In a single playoff game in 1994, Barkley scored 56 points, the third-highest total ever.

After being with the 76ers for a while, he was traded to the Phoenix Suns. Unhappy in Philadelphia, Barkely found a new life with the Suns. He had an outstanding first season and led his team to the NBA finals where they faced the intimidating Chicago Bulls. The Suns eventually lost to the Bulls in a six game series.

Barkley was to be traded once again and on August 19, 1996 Charles was traded to the Houston Rockets, playing with All-stars Hakeem Olajuwon and future-traded Scottie Pippen.

Charles has been constantly honored by being nominated to appear in 11 different

All Star games and in 1994 got the most votes for admittance to the All Star game than any other player in the NBA. He has been an ALL-NBA first team selection for five years and second and third team many times also.

He has been named one of the NBA's 50 Greatest Players of All Time, and won the most valuable player in 1993. Charles is a 6'4", 252 pound small forward that can outsmart bigger opponents and overpower smaller players. He can shoot, rebound, dribble, and do many more things to contribute to his team.
