atmosphere-the air and gases surrounding the earth like a blanket.

biodegradable-a substance that is able to be broken down by a natural process.

climate-the weather conditions of a certain area.

ecosystem-a community of animals, plants, and organisms and how they relate to one another.

flammable-something that is able to easily catch on fire.

global warming-the earth’s temperature rising to a dangerous degree, caused by the greenhouse effect.

greenhouse effect-when the earth’s atmosphere traps in solar radiation with gases that act like blanket and causes global warming.

habitat-the environment in which a certain kind of animal lives.

hazardous-dangerous.

irrigation- a system used to put water into dry land by using pipes, ditches, or streams.
landfill- a garbage dump lined with plastic or clay. Garbage is dumped into the hole, and the plastic or clay lining keeps the garbage from touching the bottom and sides of the hole.
The trash inside the hole is pressed flat by bulldozers and covered with soil. When it’s full, the landfill is closed, grass and trees can be planted on top, and the area can be used as something else.

recyclable-an item which can be crushed or melted down or otherwise used as a new item instead of being thrown away.
