The Soldiers National Museum has models and dioramas to remake ten of the major Civil War battles. It has lots of information on a Civil War soldier's daily life. Call (717) 334-4890 for more information. The Lincoln Train Museum has an 1890 full-size replica of caboose. It also has a simulated train ride and lots of model trains. Call (717) 334-5678 for more information. Lee's Headquarters Museum is the site of General Lee's headquarters during the Battle of Gettysburg. It has lots of relics, including money, small weapons, and photographs. Call (717) 334-3141 for more information. The Magic Town of Gettysburg is a miniature model of the town. It comes to life with special effects. Call (717) 334-0492 for more information. The Cyclorama is a 2.9 ton 360o circle painting of Pickett's Charge. The artist took artist's license several times by placing himself in the painting, making two soldiers carry a wounded Abe Lincoln to a doctor, and placing several leaders on horseback, who, in real life were not. At the Gettysburg Visitors Center, you can see an electric map presentation about when the different parts of the battle happened. The Confederate and Union troops are represented by different colored lights and a recording explains what happened. |
