1864 Conflicts by Date

May 5-6: Union and Confederate troops met and fought during the Battle of the Wilderness.

May 18-19: Lee and Grant kept their positions during the Battle of Spotsylvania.

June 3: The Union suffered of a major losses on the last day of Battle of Cold Harbor.

June 20: Grant’s troops laid a long hard battle to Petersburg, VA.

July 11- 12: Early’s Confederate troops were close to reaching Washington, but retreated after short fighting.

Aug. 5: Farragut was victorious during the Battle of Mobile Bay.

Sept. 2: Northern troops under command of Sherman dominated Atlanta.

Sept. 19- Oct.: Sheridan guided his troops on a storm of destruction in the Shenandoah Valley.

Nov. 15: Sherman started his march through Georgia.

Nov. 23: Tennessee was invaded by Hood.

Nov. 30: Schofield Union forces caused heavy losses to Hood during the Battle of Franklin.

Dec. 15- 16: Hood’s army was demolished during the Battle of Nashville.

Dec. 21: Sherman’s troops were occupying Savannah, GA.
