Do you get along with your brothers and sisters? Siblings can get on your nerves. Did you know that there are some stories about sibling rivalry in the Bible? For instance, Cain became jealous of his brother Abel and killed him. Jacob tricked Esau out of his birthright as the firstborn son. Joseph's brothers sold him into slavery because they felt their father loved him more.
What can you do to make peace with your siblings?
If you fight with your siblings a lot, it is worth it to try and work out your problems. You can end up being good friends through your whole life. The Bible says "Be kind to one another, tenderhearted and forgiving one another."
If you are an older sibling, you can be a role model and an encouragement to your younger sibling or you can be a bully who makes life miserable. The choice is up to you and you know what the right choice is.
And finally, if you feel your parents are showing favoritism toward your sibling, you need to tell them. If each child in your family feels loved and accepted by your parents, you won't need to feel as jealous and competitive.
