Sea Turtles

Sea turtles live in mostly warm waters. The leatherback turtles are the largest living turtle. It weighs about 1,200 lbs. Sea turtles have limbs modified into flippers which allow them to migrate long distances.

When a female sea turtle goes on land to lay her eggs, she and her eggs are easy prey to shoreline predators. When a female sea turtle lays her eggs, she buries them to protect them. When a baby sea turtle hatches, it still has to dig out of the hole and cross the beach. The baby sea turtles are easy prey to shoreline predators. The baby sea turtles who make it to the ocean still have to watch out for sharks.
