Landmarks

There are many landmarks in Egypt.  First we will start out with the basic ones.

The Pyramids
There are more than 50 pyramids in Egypt but the ones that we will be talking about in specific are the ones at Giza: Mykerinos the Divine, Chephren the Great, and Cheops (belonging to) the Horizon.  Mykerinos is the smallest of the three pyramids.  It's Egyptian name is Menkaura.  The pyramid had a basalt sarcophagus (a coffin) that was lost when a ship that was transporting it sunk.  Mykerinos is named after King Mykerinos.  In the pyramid you can find a statue of  the King and his servants.   Chephren is the second biggest pyramid in Giza.

It is also the closest to the Sphinx.  It's name is Khephren in Arabic.  Like Myrkerinos it does have a tomb in it.  It
has the tomb of Khefern.
Cheops which was really spelled Kheops was a pharaoh.  Myrkerinos was the son of Kheperen, and Kheperen was the son of Kheops.  Cheops is the biggest of the pyramids at Giza.  At Giza each pyramid has a causeway and a temple on the lake next to the pyramids.
