Rattlesnakes

Rattlesnakes are considered any snake that has a rattle at the end of its body, is poisonous, and lives in the western hemisphere. The rattle is used to scare away the predator. There are about thirty species of rattlesnakes. They live from southern Canada to Argentina.

The diamond back rattlesnake rarely grows over seven feet. Several other rattle- snakes can only grow to about two feet. Most rattlesnakes eat birds and other small mammals. A few also eat amphibians and reptiles. The rattlesnake sends out poison through two long hollow teeth when attacking his prey. Also after killing its prey the rattle snake will unlock its jaw so it can swallow its prey whole.
