What Does AIDS

Have to do

With Chimps?

Have you ever wonder where AIDS came from? Well, if you have, we have got news for you. Recent studies have proven that AIDS originated from Chimpanzees. Some innocent looking chimps have been known to carry and transmit this very harmful disease. This was recently discovered by researchers at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

By studying the Chimps that have AIDS we could prevent a lot of people from getting it. Scientists are still puzzled by the fact that the chimps don't get sick from this virus and they believe that by studying infected chimps they may be able to prevent any more people from getting AIDS.

Scientists have come to believe that the disease was passed on to humans who ate the meat of the infected chimps. Scientists have proven that the AIDS virus can't be killed by cooking the infected meat. The virus was passed on this way, three different times, in a small region of West Equatorial, Africa 50 years ago. It is now estimated that there are about 35 million people in the world who are infected with this disease.
