This is probably my most favorite carnivore of all time, the Celophysis. This egg eating Dino lived in the Triassic period and ran on his hind legs at a height of ten feet! The main meals of the celophysis were bugs, lizards, small Dinos and eggs. This dinosaur is also a mean, nasty cannibal! That is right, it also eats its own kind! They would eat their own eggs, stragglers, children etc. The first one to be found was in Ghost Ranch NM. 100 years ago. They hunted in packs and would fight over meals.

The Ichthyosaurus was also a carnivore in the Triassic period.
This was like a dolphin, but it was actually a fish-like reptillian!
With a streamlined body and a snout full of teeth, this was close to the top of the food chain, (in water that is!)
Its main diet was just about any fish it could get its jaws on!

There is one very interesting dinosaur that I learned about when I was three. Most people know it by it's nick name "Spitter". Although it's true name is Dilophosaurus, Spitter is a very appropriate name. It is a very appropriate name because this dino has a very inappropriate habit. Because his spit was toxic, it could stun it's prey, much like a spitting cobra. It was first discovered in Arizona in 1942. The paleontologists said that it was from the Jurassic period. From head to tail, it was 20 feet long! It has two thin crests on it's head, which would explain its name. Dilophosaurus means two ringed lizard. It would eat any meat it could get it's claws on. It had a mouthful of thin sharp teeth, and amazingly, it can swim a little!

Another Jurassic carnivore was called Cetrasourus. Not only did he have razor sharp teeth, but he also had a large horn on his nose! At only 6 feet, its jaws were larger than an Alliosaur's! He also had 4 sharp fingers. They hunted in small groups and would ambush their prey. They had to eat a lot, so they would normally fight over the carcass. Even with its small neck, it is at 20 feet in length.

One of the most feared dinos of the cretaceous is the Velociraptor. When he ran on his hind legs, he was faster than a cheetah! This devil had a Killer Claw! It would eat any meat it could find! A long flat snout was filled with 30 sharp teath and powerful jaws. Paleontologists have found a Protosaratops and a Velociraptor locked in combat.
