This is the HERBIVORES part of my site!

I hope you enjoy!

One of the wierdest dinos I have ever seen lived in the Cretaceous period. The Ankylosaurs was the largest of the Cretaceouses period. Their short legs and massive body, was not built to race in the Indey 500! The only reason his body is like that is for protection. With a "tank-like" body and a war-like "bone club", a ferocious T-Rex wouldn't want to mess with him! This dino was first found in Canada in 1908.

This is a picture of an ankylosaurus. It was named by Burnum Brown.

This is another herbivore. It is called the Protocearatops. In its time it would live in the hot Gobi Desert, Mongolia, Asia. It lived in the Cretaceous period. This was a bulky dinosaur that walked on all fours. It had four toes on each foot. At the end of each toe it had short claws. Paleontologists say that these claws were hardly for protection. They say the protocearatops's claws where only for digging. This was good, considering it is famous for its nests, eggs and care for its young. This dino had a large sheild-like frill that covers its neck for protection. Although it is related to the more popular Tricearatops, it does not have any horns. So you would think it would be more vulnerable to predators, right?....WRONG! This little stinker had a sharp parrot-like beak that could rip through flesh if needed, least to say it still had enemies, but they went after the eggs, not her! But the beak was mainly used for tearing off vegetation and chewing it with small molars at the back of its jaws. They lived in small groups with a leading male.

"This is a velociraptor locked in combat with the protocearatops."

"This is a picture of a protocearatops using her beak to chase away a thieving Oviraptor".

Probably the first dinosaur I ever saw or heard about was the Diplodocus. It lived in the Jurassic period. This dino was first found in 1877. It was bigger than a four story building and heavier than 10 tons!!! Paleontologists say it could go into the water. Do you know why? Because it had its nostrils on its head!

It had hollow bones and had a long neck. This "long neck" of hers could reach high vegetation on trees. But for that really outta reach stuff it could rear up on its hind legs, lean on the tree and use her neck & head to gulp down leaves. Her teeth were shaped in such a way, that it was hard for it to eat. It had one claw on each foot, but paleontologists don't know why. They can't be for protection. Its main defense was its tail. It was thick and strong enough to send a T-Rex sprawling! They lived in small herds of about 5-10.

See picture.
