What are Narcotics?

    Sometimes narcotics are called opiates.  They are called this because they are made from the thick white syrup in unripe seed pod of an Asian plant called the opium poppy.  Sometimes they are used as pain medication.  Some people use them for fun.
 
 

What are some examples of Narcotics?


    Some examples of narcotics are opium, morphine, and methadone.  Heroin is the most used.
 
 

What are they usually called?


    Some narcotics have different slang words that people call them.  Some are opium, morph, tab, white stuff, Miss Emma, monkey school box, brown sugar, Big H., Lords, dollies, dolls amidone, T's  and blues, designer drug, China white, black tan, horse, smack, stuff, junk, Harry, Little D.
 
 

What do narcotics do to you?


    Some common effects are feeling happy in any situation, drowsiness, dizziness, drawn together pupils, not feeling hungry, and throwing up.  Some narcotics make your blood pressure go up, make your heart beat real fast, and cause seizures.  If you take too many narcotics, you may not be able to use the rest room, and have bad vision.  If you try to stop using narcotics, you will have watery eyes, runny nose, yawning, cramps, sickness, shaking, panics, chills, and sweating.
 
 

Cocaine


    Cocaine is known as coke, dust, snow, flake, blow, girl.  When you feel good it only lasts 5 to 20 minutes.  You may be able to be irritated real easily.  Over use can cause death.  This drug is illegal.
 
 

Crack


    Crack is known as crack cocaine, free base rocks, rock.  Once you start using it, it is hard to stop.  Over use could cause a heart attack that causes death.  Repeated use can cause seizures.  Crack is illegal.  There are more hospital reports of  crack than any other substance.
 
 

Ice


    Ice is known as meth, crystal, crank, meth amphetamine.  Sometimes with just one use, you can't stop.  Ice can cause high blood pressure and shaking.   Also an overdose can cause death.  If you are able to stop, you are always depressed.
