I was born in Ireland in 1867. In 1888, when I was 21, I published a system of shorthand that used short and long strokes to represent sounds. It is currently used throughout the world and has been adapted to eleven languages. In 1893, when I was 36, I began a successful publication of Gregg Shorthand in Chicago. I also founded a school to teach my system and other business subjects. I managed a business that printed my books and other business text books. I also edited two magazines pertaining to the business profession. I died in 1948 and was laid to rest in Bellefontaine Cemetery. |
