Abe Lincoln was born in 1809, in Hodgenville, Kentucky.  He was born into a family that consisted of his father, his mother Nancy Lincoln, and his sister Sarah Lincoln.  His father met Nancy Hawks in 1806.  A year later, in 1807 they had a baby girl, and they named her Sarah.  When Abe was nine years old, his mother died in 1818; his sister was eleven.  A year later in 1819 He went to Kentucky to find a wife.  He met Sarah Bush Johnston, a widow, who had three children of her own. Their ages were twelve, eight, and five. Sarah and Abe’s father married the same year.  Sarah was a wonderful mother and took Sarah and Abe into her arms right away.  Abe was a fast learner and loved to read.  At age sixteen he was one of the best runners and wrestlers around.  When he was eighteen, Abe’s sister Sarah died while giving birth to her first child.
