Sloth

Sloths are sleepy, slow-moving animals found in the rain forests of South America. They live in the trees and swing slowly around when they are not sleeping. These sleepy animals can nap up to eighteen hours a day and they can live to be ten years old. They have large heads, big eyes, and a snub noses. The sloth's vary size because there are two kinds of them the three toed Sloths and the two toed Sloths. They are normally sixteen to twenty-six inches long. They come in a light gray to brown color but, can almost look green because of an algae that grows on them during certain parts of the year. These animals live off of green plants found in the rain forest. When they get hungry they eat leaves or other green shoots they pull up. These animals only come down out of the trees once a week to go to the bathroom. The Sloths can also swim and besides being one of the slowest animals on Earth they are also very slow swimmers. When the female has a baby it only has one at a time. The baby hangs on the mother until it can fend for itself. You can not keep these amazing animals as pets, but you can go see them in zoos.
