Home PagePiranha
The piranha is a oval shaped fish that lives in the rivers of the Tropical Rain Forest. The average length of the piranha can be from 10-24 inches long. The Pacu is the cousin of the Piranha but it is a vegetarian.
Piranhas usually stay in groups which makes it is easier to hunt and kill. When it kills an animal, it is known to eat everything until the bone is left. They are known to be able to sense blood from a mile away. Their teeth are almost as sharp or sharper the a saw blade. The piranha clamps onto its prey like a hunters trap and doesn't let go until it has enough meat. In Brazil some farmers have to take their cattle across a river that has piranhas in it so they have to send a sick or injured animal out first to be eaten to ensure the safety of the rest of the cattle.
An interesting fact about keeping a Piranha as a pet is that
if you are planning to have six of them then you will need a
hundred gallon tank to care for them in.
The piranhas are really wild anf amazing animals!
