Bush-baby

The bush-baby is one of the cutest animals you will ever see. It has big eyes and is tiny about 17 inches long and weighing about 1 pound. Bush-babies are close relatives of monkeys, apes and lemurs. It lives in the African rain forest swinging and jumping from tree to tree. The bush-baby is arborial when it walks it is awkward and clumsy, so it is easier for it to jump vertically and swing. Since the bush-babies live in trees they build their homes there. The nests are made of leaves in a round shape with a hollow middle. A bush-baby will not live in this one spot forever; it moves every two to three weeks. The bush-baby eats insects, fruit, gum and leaves. It hangs onto trees using a claw between its thumb and big toe.

The mother usually gives birth to only one baby, but some of these species have twins. The baby lives with the mother until it is old enough to fend for itself. Good luck learning more about this totally cool rain forest animal!
