Ghosts have been thought to exist since the beginning of human existence. There are two types of ghosts. There are Haunts and Poltergeists. The word Poltergeist comes from a German word, translated "noisy spirit". Poltergeists are not normally seen but are felt and heard. Poltergeists are very mischievous and like to come around teens who are sad, mad, or upset. Haunts are ghosts that may appear in a house or a place outside. Haunts often appear where a murder or violent death occurred. When ghosts are around it can give you a creepy feeling or there will be a cold spot.
Poltergeists can move things.
They sometimes move stones or even furniture. They might open doors,
cause strange knocking, mysteriously turn lights on and off. People
say that poltergeists make unusual rapping noises.
The man in gray is a young man wearing a powdered wig, a three-cornered hat like in colonel times, a long cloak, and a sword. He has often been seen London, England in the Theatre Royal. He has been seen mainly by actors or stage workers in the early afternoon. Sometimes he appears during a performance. The actors think he is good luck because he only appears at hit shows.
Why still a mystery?
Some say he is the ghost of either Arnold Woodruffe or Thomas Hallam.
They were killed by a fellow actor that went mad. Some say he was
a member of the audience and not a performer. Some say it is
the ghost of a young man whose skeleton was found in the theater in 1860.
He seems to stay in the Theatre Royal, so he must love the theatre.

About 2000 years ago a Roman scholar recorded this story. It is one of the first ghost stories.
There was a house in Athens,
Greece, that was said to be haunted. People who stayed the night
heard moans and chains clanking. Then a horrible phantom would appear.
It was an old man with long hair and a long beard. It was said that
anyone who saw it had bad luck.
