The Mayans believed in many gods. Ixtab was the goddess of sacrificial suicide. She was always represented with a rope around her neck. The Mayans believed that suicide would lead you to heaven. They would sacrifice lives for the gods.

Kinich Ahau was the sun god. He was the god of the city Itzamal. Supposedly, he visited Itzamal every day at noon.

Yum Cicil was the god of death. He was also called Ah Puch, the god of the underworld.Supposedly he had sockets, but no eyes. He also had bones but no skin.

Chac was the rain god. Chac was associated with creation and life.

Also, there was Kakulcan, the wind god.Kakulcan was also known as the feathered-serpent god. Some persist as to whether or not Kakulcan was just a variation of Chac.
