It was done with a very fine brush, the common colors were red and black the Maya also used green, yellow and brown. Mayas painting appeared on pottery, stone and sometimes on jade. A lot of Mayan art was destroyed by Central Americas damp and tropical climate. As a result, the superb example of the paintings in the rooms at Bonampak is even more of a miracle. The walls are covered in rich murals, depicting vivid scenes of Mayan life and in particular some connected with a military campaign or raid.
