Earthquakes happen when the earth beneath you shakes and moves.  Earthquakes are caused by two of the earth’s plates sticking together.   Earthquakes can be very destructive.  Earthquakes move at about 16,000 mph in rock, and move slower in soft sand and mud. They are slowed down and concentrated by the soft sand and mud.  These tips are what you can do if you are ever caught in an earthquake.  If an earthquake ever happens try and get under a table or in a doorway so nothing heavy falls on you.  Stay away from windows so that flying glass doesn’t hit you.
