Aside from the Gods there were other important immortals. Three of these werethe Muses. the Graces, and the Fates. We hope that yyou can earn about theseimportant but little known immortals from this page.
The
Muses were the daughters of Zeus and Mnemosyne. They were the
patrons ofthe arts. The eldest Calliope is the Fair
Voiced. Clio is the Proclaimer. Erato is the
Lovely. Euterpe is the Giver of Pleasure.
Melpomene is theSongstress. Polyhymnia is She
of many hymns. Terpshichore is theWhirler.
Thalia is the Flourishing. The ninth muse, Urania is
theHeavanly.

The three Graces are the daughters of Zeus and Eurynome and preside overacts of kindness and courtesy. Their names are Aglaia, Euphrosyne, amdThalia, which mean "splendor," "myrth" and "good cheer." They were alsoknown as the Charities and were attendants of Aphrodite. The Graces werealways together, a triple incarnation of grace and beauty, and they werethe queens of song with their companions, the Muses. The man theyvisited was happy, and their presence at banquets was a must.
These the divine three sisters were born from Zeus and Themis. Their names, Clotho,Lachesis, and Atropos, mean "the spinner", "the apportioner", and "theinevitable", and they controlled the destinies of all mortals. Each hadtheir own job: Clotho, the youngest, spins the thread of life and hascontrol of the hour of birth; Lachesis measures the thread and spins outthe events of human lives; and Atropos decides the moment of death andcuts the thread of life . They also keep the records of every human lifefrom beginning to eternity. They are credited, with Hermes' assistance,to have created the first Pelasgian alphabet. All the gods were subjectto the decisions of the Fates.
