The Hanging Gardens of Babylon, located
about 50 km south of Baghdad, Iraq, is truly
a wonder of the world! It is the only garden
built in a building, 80 feet above the ground,
in the world! It was built around 3000 B.C.,
but no longer stands today. They have the
ability to irrigate this massive garden by
bringing buckets up by a chain. The garden
is about 400 feet by 400 feet, and 80 feet
high, making it quite a job bringing up
those buckets! Below is a picture of
what the buckets may have looked liked.

King Nebuchadnezzar II
built this extradordinary
garden for his wife, who
was homesick for the
greenery of the land
she came from, and
found Mesopotamia
depressing.
