The Water Cycle

• Heat from the sun makes water rise (evaporate)
• Water and air mix to form water vapor
• When the air cools the vapor forms clouds (condensation)
• The vapor forms into water droplets which are drawn back to earth by gravity
• Water then is returned to the earth by rain (precipitation)

• The world would become a lifeless desert if there was no weather
• Another name for the water cycle is the hydrologic cycle
• Sun, air, and the force of gravity keep the water cycle functioning
