What is a flood?

A flood is when there is more water than the lakes, rivers, oceans, or ground can hold.

Named for how often they usually occur.

  • 10 year flood
  • 100 year flood
  • 500 year flood
  • Monsoons

  • A lot of rain or melting snow
  • Too much water for the ground to absorb
  • Dirt that is frozen and can't absorb water
