Greek writing developed in Egypt after the conquest of Alexander the Great. The year this happened in was 331 BC until about 750 ad. Most of the writing during these years is mostly in Greek writing. It was not only the language of the government. it was also the language of businessmen and schools.

There is a papyrus collection that holds writings from the early third century Bc to the eighth century BC. In this selection we find works of literature, magical texts, letters, receipts and all kinds of documents.
