The Orca Whale

 

 

Size

The normal length of a male Orca is about 29.7 the female's length is about 26 ft., they may vary.  

Weight

A male is up to 16,940 a the female is up to 12,000. The orca can weigh over 13,200 lbs. It can also swim over 30 mph.

 

Feeding

Orca's feed on fish, squid, dead birds,seals,other whales, and dolphins. First he spys on the prey then he proceeds his prey they also hunt in groups.There are 20 to 26 teeth in each jaw.

Habitat

Orca's can be found in the oceans and seas near the equator. They may even swim into the estuaries. This whale seems to like coastal areas and cooler waters where it is rich in prey. Although the orca's can feed in warm and cool waters.

 

Breeding

An orca may breed with several mates. Males can't tell which babies they fathered. Almost a year and a half a female gives birth to a 6.6' a baby orca.They have 1 baby.

 

Behavior

The orca live in tight-knit groups that includes a female with her babies and an adult they are known as a pod. Pod members communicate by ecolocation and whistles. Each orca has unique voice which is past down from generation to generation.
