 Size

With 6000-7000 pounds behind it, the Great White Shark is not the kind of animal you want to mess with.At the end of their 30-50 year lives the Great White Shark can grow up to 20 feet! A small full-grown Great White Shark is no smaller than 12 feet. That's pretty big, huh?

Interesting fact:

The female sharks are usually bigger than the males.

Feeding

The Great White Shark is what you call a carnivore. That means that they eat meat from other animals. The animals that the Great White Sharks eat are fish(of all sorts), dolphins, seals, squid, sea turtles, sea birds(that are swimming) and whale carcasses.

Before the sharks attack any thing at all, they roll their eyes back into the socket just seconds before they hit their prey with their 3" teeth. They let it die and if they like the taste they will go back and eat the rest. they roll back there eyes for protection.

Small pores in the Great White Sharks snout lead to sensors that pick up electical nerve signals in prey. That way the Shark can sense where prey is. The have others sensors that pick up blood too! That helps them find already dead animals. Then the scare away the animal that killed the prey.

Interesting Fact:

The teeth of Great White Sharks are so sharp they used to be used as razor blades by Islanders in the Pacific!!

Reproduction

The Great Shark does not have a scheduled mating season. It really depends on where they live. After they mate they will have 1 or 2 babies a year.
